We have already exchanged houses twice and just loved the experience!
Our home is waiting to welcome you in the small village of Balzheim, only 30km South of the historic town of Ulm. It is an ideal home base to discover Germany and Europe in the summer as well as in the winter.
Balzheim is surrounded by countryside, forest, other villages and small towns. There are restaurant, beer-garden (or Christmas markets), shops, nice walking and cycling trails, forest and a river close by.
Ulm (located between Stuttgart and Munich and 30km North of Balzheim) is a historic as well as modern city of 120.000 inhabitants, with the famous Ulmer Münster, many interesting sights, museums, theatre, festivals and other attractions. (http://tourismus.ulm.de/tourismus/de/index.php)
From Balzheim, it is easy to discover Germany and Europe by car (Autobahn A7, exit 124): Stuttgart 130km, Munich 140km, Neuschwanstrein 100km, Lake Constance 100km, and in 1-2 hours to the Black Forest, the Alps, France, Austria and Switzerland and many UNESCO sights (http://whc.unesco.org/en/statesparties/de)
The nearest European airport is: Memmingen (Allgäu) is 30km S.
and the International Airport in Stuttgart 120km N.
