Erlangen is located in the northern part of Bavaria, so you can also reach a lot of areas (e.g. Nuremberg, Munich, Frankfurt, Rothenburg o.d. Tauber) easily. You will find wonderfull recreation and walking areas in the countryside near Erlangen like the so called Franconian Switzerland. This area is famous for its cosy valleys, stalactite caves and rippling creeks. Our area is also well known for its excellent private breweries and the genuine franconian food.
