Barnstorf has about 6.000 inhabitans. It is situated in Lower Saxony, between Bremen and Osnabrück.
In Barnstorf you find e.g. different supermarkets, a farmacy, a couple of boutiques and restaurants, a post office, tennis courts, a nice outdoor swimming pool, ecological and regional food, diff. doctors, a library and lots of nature around.
There are various playgrounds near our house and in Barnstorf there is also a canoe rental.

The surrounding area offers great opportunities for excursions, especially for people with an interest in history, nature and North German life.

To Bremen and Osnabrück it is a 30-40 minutes drive by train.
To the Northern See, Hannover, Hamburg or Groningen (NL) it takes 1,5 - 2,5 hours by car.

We welcome all honest and respectful people in our house, regardless of their origin, religion, sexual orientation, age or social position.

We are non smokers.

Kari is an architect. Petra Malle is a cultural scientist. Our son Aaron is 13 years old and we are all used to travel. We get familiar with new situations easiely and we treat other people's property with respect. We value animals and plants and if you have some, we would take care of them with love (but due to a strong allergy unfortunately except indoor cats and dogs).

There are two rabbits (Dr. Muffin and Dr. Kuchen) living with us but their home is outside during the whole year. It would be lovely, if our exchange partner could take care of them during the exchange. But, of course, if you want to be away for some time, a friend can take care of the animals too.

We are interested in arts, history and travelling. We like being in the nature and we appreciate being with people as well as sometimes alone, just with us.
Kari likes soccer and painting / drawing and he is much interested in architecture. Petra Malle prefers swimming and cooking (and eating ;)
Aaron loves being in water and cooking. He also likes fishing and playing tennis as well as smirking and laughing with people.

We are members of an agricultural initiative based on solidarity. If you want, you can get a large box of organically grown vegetables for free once a week.

Within the last years we have done several very successful exchanges via Intervac. In the future we would like to continue with this way of travelling; we are committed to this opportunity of getting to know another culture and area and exchanging with people.
