Our home is located beside a small town on the Ocean on the Comox peninsula. We are in the midst of nature and close to forest and nature parks. However, shopping is minutes away either by car or walking. The local centre includes a large grocer and food market. There are also many small stores in the community and mall which offer specialty items. There is a seafood store and a fish dock where one can purchase fresh seafood from the fishermen.
In addition, the small town of Comox provides several excellent restaurants and pubs where one can eat out.
There is much wildlife (harmless) such as birds including herons, chickadees, woodpeckers and bald eagles; deer and racoons who wander through our little neighbourhood. Our property faces on to an ocean bay which feeds into Georgia strait (The strait which divides Vancouver Island from Mainland BC and the City of Vancouver). We have double and single kayaks with all the gear for your use.
Our home is small, yet well appointed with a newly renovated interior. There is one bedroom with ensuite. There is also a futon in the TV room for guests. We have a lovely wood stove for chilly days and a good supply of wood.
This neighbourhood offers many opportunities for walking and enjoying nature. We are located on the beach. It is a great place to swim in the summer months.
There are many cultural events in this community, especially in the summer.
There is a Music Festival in early July (Comox Valley Musicfest) which attracts many well know musicians (popular and folk) from around the world.
The neighbouring city of Courtenay (across the bay) hosts several Arts Galleries, and many events.
There is also a Summer Music Camp which offers classical music concerts throughout July. There are outdoor performances a short walk away in the Filberg park along the beach. At the end of August, there is the Filberg Fine Arts Festival which hosts many artists and craftsmen in addition to the fine musicians who perform there each year. It is held at the same location as the classical concerts.
